Squatting in mother's house occupying the smallest room in the house and already having other cats, EJ could not keep all of Tanya's babies.
For weeks, armed with cute photos of the kittens, EJ went round asking friends and colleagues to help find a home for the kittens. In the meantime, the kittens were sent for check-up and their health boosted by giving them supplements and multivits.
EJ had to make a decision who to give away. Tortie who was handicapped-born had to be kept as he was still receiving treatment. Besides no one would want a kitten like that.
4head was very close to Tortie and they were always together as you can see here. EJ decided not to separate them.
After Tanya was spayed, when the kittens were eating solids and could care for themselves together with no success in getting them adopted, EJ sent Wig, Rug and EyeShit to SPCA on one Saturday morning.
The lady at the reception was not happy. EJ walked to the back to where all the cats were kept, cleaned an empty cage and put the kittens there. A card prepared earlier with information about the kittens like their date of birth and that they were dewormed, deflea, etc were then hung on the cage door.
After placing a bowl of water and a bowl of cat kibbles in the cage, EJ walked off and out with a lump in the throat.
PS: With Tortie not well, EJ may not be able to post, visit or comment as regularly for the time being.

Oh hell. I HOPE someone takes them in.
I can imagine that your heart was bleeding when you had to give the kittens away !
Sorry that Tortie is till not well, I hope he doesn't suffer.
I would groom Kim myself too, but it is impossible, we have tried it, she just runs away and then hides for hours ! She is quiet a wild cat although she was from a litter of my friend in England and I knew her from birth !
E.J I was already worried about you and Tortie as you hadn't posted for a couple of days. Such a worrying time for you with Tortie so unwell. Will be watching for updates when you feel able to post again. I do hope those kittens found homes.
OH EJ!! What heartbreak for you to leave these sweet kitties!! Me and Charlie hope they were all given beautiful homes. Oh dear!
We have everything crossed for sweet Tortie!! We hope and send tons of purrs and hugs to you and Tortie. Please please take care and please Tortie - hang on in there!!!!! We hope you get better, please get better!

Oh, EJ, I know that must have been so hard for you.
I'm sorry that Tortie is still sick. I just so hope he hangs in. I'm wondering if he's done with the medicine yet. I still can't help but think that's what making him sick (not the kidneys but the other problems he's having).
Hugs,
Vicki and Lucy
It sure is heartbreaking to have sick kittens. And to have to give them away.
We are so sorry - all this must be making EJ sick with worry for the kittens and of course Tortie. Our thoughts are with them.
I am so sorry Tortie is so sick, and I know how busy you are taking care of him, EJ. I'm thinking of both of you.

I agree with Au and Target.
We also hope that the kittens find homes. Usually kittens get home sooner than and older cat.
We understand perfectly about having a sick cat and not having any time for anything else. WE sure hope that Tortie starts to get better soon.
I am so sorry...
I also agree with these comments.
Oh, EJ, thank you for caring so much. We hope all the kittens will be okay.
We hope the kittens found good homes.
And also hope that Tortie gets betterbbsending good thoughts.
So sorry you couldn't keep the babies; I know it was difficult to let them go...Hope they found loving homes...When I gave sub q fluids, I would do it around the same time everyday in the same spot and have everything set up before I got them, always wrap Nik/Asia up so that their paws were covered but they were comfortable with the towel opening around their back for easy access and try to stick them around their shoulders or on their sides...You can manipulate the needle if the drip is going too slow to make it run faster; it usually took around 3-4 minutes a day once the needle was in and the cats were very good with it...Best of luck with beautiful Tortie...xoxo...J, Calle, Halle, Sukki
EJ, We hope Tortie will be ok. and sorry to hear you can't keep the babies. Not easy to walk away but sometime, decision have to be make.

Hi Chair. It is with bated anticipation and slight fear that I visit you today with my hounds Sweepy and Sumo and heaved a sigh of relief that Tortie is still hanging on!
We hope that EJ is ok and that you can provide the most restful place to park EJ's tired head.
We're praying for everyone in that loving home!

It must have been hard for you to leave the lovely kitties at the SPCA. I do hope they get adopted soon and Tortie gets well.Take care dear.
Thinking of you and hoping Tortie will will let you give the medicine and fluids. That must have been so hard to give up those kittens.
I'm glad Tortie is still hanging on. EJ, hang in there. I know it hurts to think of the past, but don't look back at it (Tanya's kittens). Instead look ahead because Tortie needs you more than anything right now. Me, Blackie and Yin are send you & Tortie lots of positive purrs and headbutts.
oh so sad.. i hope they will find their homes and someone kind like you as their owner.
