Stretch and Scratch

The human body releases endorphins, the body's natural 'feel good' hormones during stress and as a response to pain. Endorphins is released during activities like exercise and in some like shopping or gambling which may result in additive behaviour.

Cats, too, release endorphins, which make them feel good, by stretching and scratching.

And Tanya here shows how.

First, you get into the right position.

Then, you stretch and scratch.

Muggy Air Makes Grungy Fur

The weather is blistering hot reaching an average temperature of 34 °Celsius. With high humidity, it feels like 45 °Celsius.

In this muggy air, the heat is getting to us, with and without fur. Hair and fur get grungy and greasy like Pebble here.

Both Pebble and Tanya were given cold water baths two days ago and dried naturally under the ceiling fan.

Obnoxious Tanya

EJ's happy to be able to catch Tanya's obnoxiousness in these pictures as words could not fully describe it.

Senior Cat Claws

Senior cats' claws thicken due to decreased activity. They scratch less which makes it difficult for them to shed their claws properly.
Dirt and fur trapped underneath their claws plus the increased thickness makes it less retractable just like Cinders' Dew Claw ('thumb' claw) here.

Unless the claws are trimmed, walking will become difficult. Untrimmed claws may grow into the pads causing pain.
