Cinders' Fighting On

Now totally blind, Cinders had to be confined to the dry toilet.

She walks along the walls and into her water and food bowls. EJ had to clean up regularly.

Cinders forgets to eat as well and had to be gently reminded by putting the food directly under her nose.

Pictures below were taken a month earlier.

Relaxing under the ceiling fan.

Soaking in the single beam of scorching morning sun after dragging all her toys out from the basket.

Resting after playing and scattering her playthings. (EJ has picked them up.)

  6. Poor Cinders. We hope you still have quality of life, sweetie, because that's what counts. The life in your days, not the days in your life. :-)

  9. Poor cinders, she must have lost her smell ability too, otherwise she wouldn't walk in the food. As long as she eats well and has no other troubles, she will probably get used to her blindness.

  19. Oh, EJ, poor little Cinders!
I've been thinking about blindness a lot this month because one of my dearest friends has unexpectedly gone blind, first in one eye, and then in the other. She loved photography, sewing her own clothes, and quilting, as well as reading.
Please give dear Cinders a hug from me. I'm sending a cyber-hug to you, too, EJ.
    Warmest thoughts,

  27. Poor Cinders... She will get used to her lack of sight, I'm sure, and learn to find those sunbeams by their warmth, and her food by its smell. There are plenty of good things left to enjoy in life. The best of luck to all.

  29. Cinders, we send you our comforting purrs and hope you can adjust.

One of us - Cookie - has been almost totally blind for a year. It was sudden and due to a reaction he had to anesthesia at the vet's. There was a period of adjustment but he is coping well now. His sense of smell is good, but his hearing is not. He is a senior and we do not know his age, so much of his time is spent napping. His highlight, is being allowed into the yard to snack on some blades of grass. Otherwise he spends a lot of time in our office in one of the comfy office chairs and helps mombean with our blogging.

we hope you can cope, too, Cinders

    Purrs,

  30. Oh dear. Do you think this is from high blood pressure that she went blind? My friend had a dog who went blind form diabetes and she got used to where everyhting was in the hosue and lived several years that way. I am sure Cinders could adapt too. Sending lot sof purrs your way.
